A Historic Retreat with Warm Welsh Hospitality

Llangattock Park House, built in 1838 by T.H. Wyatt for the Duke of Beaufort, is steeped in history and charm. This striking neo-Tudor estate has long been cherished as a summer and hunting residence, embodying a unique blend of grandeur and intimacy. The property’s original features—gargoyles, a “green man” carving, and griffins bearing the Duke’s crest—transport visitors back in time, while the breathtaking views of the Black Mountains inspire a sense of peace and wonder.

Legend has it that the Duke himself would ride his horse right up to the front Gothic door to warm up by the hallway stove! Today, that very door, crowned by the Beaufort Crest, remains a centerpiece of the house, welcoming guests from all over the world to experience its historic charm and character.

It was a very special place to stay in a beautiful stately home, with the suite being very grand and lovely gardens. We felt that we were experiencing the grandeur of the past with so many beautiful historical features and we were fascinated by the history of the house shared. We cannot recommend it enough and would give it a rating of way beyond ten if possible. It is definitely the nicest place we have stayed on many breaks away. As well as being nestled in the beauty of the Brecon Beacons and with easy access to the town of Crickhowell and many walks and outdoor activities, the hosts - Rory and Cath - go above and beyond to ensure you have an amazing stay. Whilst the facilities and all provided , such as breakfast, is fantastic, the warmth, interest and hospitality of the hosts have made this a break to remember.
